Headteacher Welcome Message

Welcome from the Headteacher

On behalf of the entire Springfield School community, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to our school.

Situated in the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands town of Leek, Springfield School is a primary generic special school. We work alongside local mainstream and special schools to provide exceptional opportunities for children with a wide range of additional needs. Our ambition is for every pupil to thrive, achieve and develop the skills they need for a successful and fulfilling future.

At Springfield, every child is highly valued as an individual and as an important member of our school community. We are proud to be part of a Trust that is guided by the values Everyone Belongs. Learns. Grows, principles that underpin everything we do. These values closely align with our own school ethos: Be Kind, Be Happy, Be Great.

Relationships are at the heart of Springfield School. We know that for our pupils, communication is a key area of development and support. Because of this, we believe that strong, trusting and meaningful relationships must come first. Communication is the foundation of everything we do at Springfield, but communication flourishes when pupils feel safe, understood, valued and connected to the people around them. Building these relationships with our pupils, families and wider professionals is therefore our highest priority.

We work closely with parents, carers and external professionals to ensure that every pupil receives a personalised and tailored provision that meets their individual needs. Through this collaborative approach, we support children not only in their academic learning, but also in developing the communication, social and life skills that enable them to become confident and independent individuals. Being an active part of the wider community is an important aspect of life at Springfield, and we provide meaningful opportunities for pupils to engage with and contribute to the world around them. Through our carefully planned Life Skills curriculum, we help prepare children for their next stages in education and life, developing the independence, resilience and practical skills they need to succeed both within their communities and beyond.

Our staff team is highly skilled, dedicated and incredibly committed. The success and wellbeing of every pupil are at the centre of all they do. They work tirelessly to create engaging learning experiences, celebrate achievements and support each child to reach their full potential. We take great pride in sharing these successes with families and all those involved in each pupil’s journey.

Working closely with families is a fundamental part of our ethos. Springfield School offers a range of support not only for our pupils, but for their families too. We actively encourage parents and carers to be involved in school life and in their child’s learning, recognising that the strongest outcomes are achieved when home and school work together. By building positive relationships and working in partnership, we can help every child to be kind, be happy and be great.

We are proud of our warm, inclusive and ambitious school community and hope that our website gives you a flavour of what makes Springfield such a special place to learn, grow and belong.

You will find a wealth of information throughout our website, but if you would like to visit the school or find out more about what Springfield has to offer, please do not hesitate to contact us. We would be delighted to welcome you to Springfield School.

Kind regards
