The Springfield Way

At Springfield School, we believe that every child deserves to feel valued, understood and successful. As part of our Trust, we proudly embrace the belief that Everyone Belongs. Everyone Learns. Everyone Grows. These principles are woven through every aspect of school life and form the foundation of The Springfield Way.

At the heart of everything we do is the understanding that positive relationships change lives. Our pupils have a range of communication needs and we know that communication can only truly flourish when children feel safe, connected and understood. For this reason, building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families and professionals is our highest priority. Through these relationships, children develop a sense of belonging, confidence and self-belief, enabling them to engage, communicate and learn.

Springfield is a place where everyone matters. We celebrate individuality and recognise the unique strengths, interests and talents of every pupil. We provide a nurturing, ambitious and inclusive environment where children are encouraged to explore, discover and develop their curiosity about the world around them.

Communication is the foundation of learning, independence and wellbeing. We support every pupil to find and develop their own voice, whether through speech, symbols, signing, technology or other personalised approaches. By creating meaningful opportunities for communication throughout the school day, we help pupils build connections, express themselves and become active members of their community.

Alongside academic learning, we place great importance on preparing pupils for life beyond Springfield. Through our Life Skills curriculum and community-based learning opportunities, children develop the confidence, resilience and practical skills needed for their next stages of education and life. We want every pupil to leave Springfield equipped to participate in their community, make meaningful choices and achieve their fullest potential.
