At Springfield School, communication is at the heart of everything we do. As a Total Communication school, we recognise that every child has a unique voice and the right to be heard.
We use a wide range of communication methods, including speech, Makaton, gesture, symbols, PECS, AAC, Objects of Reference and Intensive Interaction, ensuring that every pupil has a meaningful way to express themselves, connect with others and access learning. We believe that all behaviour is communication and that strong relationships are the foundation for successful communication development. Guided by our values of Belong, Learn, Grow and Be Kind, Be Happy, Be Great, we create supportive, inclusive environments where pupils feel safe, understood and empowered to communicate with confidence. Through communication, our pupils build connections, develop independence and achieve their personal best.
