At Springfield School, pupils play an active role in mentoring and supporting their peers. Every Friday, pupils have the opportunity to work and socialise with children from different classes, helping them to develop new friendships and strengthen their sense of belonging within the school community. This purposeful mixing creates valuable opportunities for pupils to demonstrate leadership skills, support others and act as positive role models.
During these sessions, pupils develop key social and communication skills through sharing experiences, guiding their peers and working collaboratively. Our Communication Coaches play a particularly important role in this provision. They model and demonstrate effective communication strategies, supporting their peers to interact confidently and successfully. Through their leadership, pupils help to create an inclusive environment where every child feels valued, understood and able to participate fully. This contributes significantly to the development of independence, confidence, empathy and respect for others across the school.
