Safeguarding, Attendance and Behaviour Review November 2026
I wanted to say how impressed I was with the importance the school places on compliance, which is clearly reflected in an outstanding compliance score of 100% (36/36) – a fantastic achievement.
It was great to see such strong systems and processes in place across all areas, with clear evidence of a proactive approach to managing health and safety. This really highlights the commitment of the school and provides strong reassurance that the school is operating at a high standard.
There are no outstanding actions from the visit, which is an excellent outcome.
H&S Audit – Staffordshire County Council – September 23
Level 5 – A Continually Improving H&S organisation.
This premises/service/team is currently operating at level 5 – a Continually Improving H&S organisation.
In this organisation all staff see health and safety as a high-profile area and fully own health and safety as a core part of their role. There is clear evidence of good behavioural safety practice and there are reward systems in place for those who consistently achieve performance at the highest level.
A comprehensive annual health and safety plan is in place where safety is part of the overall management plan. Within this health and safety is seen equal to all other organisational goals.
The decision making process is wholly based around the concept of risk assessment and this enables priorities to be established and monitored as part of organisational (and individual) objectives. Incidents and accidents from within the team/premises or from outside inform the risk management strategy process and the lessons learned from such incidents are used to ensure positive change.
The concept of progress through people is fully adopted. Communication is at a high standard with all staff having many opportunities to engage with the health and safety management process. This includes staff identifying their own health and safety development goals and training.
It can be seen that striving for continuous improvements are seen as “the norm” within this team and staff are given many opportunities to contribute to this. Managers are always receptive to new suggestions and support the implementation of these with progress reviews and ongoing monitoring.
Managers use the OH referral process and intervention services as a proactive management tool.
A structure and high profile management review of performance is carried out at least annually including a review of decisions taken, objectives & targets and the resources allocated to health and safety.
Overall this organisation is performing at level 5 -Continually Improving. The organisation is operating with a very high standard of health and safety management and it consistently achieves excellent performance results.
The challenge for this organisation is maintaining the performance into the future whilst taking account of organisational change.
